- Synopsis - A casual Flash game for people who want quick play puzzles that are different then any other puzzle games on the market. Sketch the Game is a puzzle/platform game that offers puzzles that players use the world itself to solve. Unlike Warioware or Braid, this game offers a tool box that allows players to manipulate their environment in any way they want and truly allows them to 'draw it their way.'
- Challenges - Originally this game had so many possible tools for players to use, it quickly became confusing to handle different situations in an effective way while playing. While all the different tools were fun to use, it was obvious that some of those tools needed to be removed in order to streamline game play. It was difficult removing parts of a game that we all liked, but it was also necessary.
- Outcome - The game was completed and went on to win the Game Wizards 'Game of the Year 2011' Award. The lesson learned here was the importance of knowing your audience early on in the development process. This game was meant to be for casual players, who typically wants a simple game play mechanic. By refocusing on what would be best for them, and removing the many tools we had originally wanted to implement, the game became more of a success.
