- Synopsis - For casual gamers in their teens and up who want a humor based game that’s quick to play. Ovarium is a top down dual stick shooter that offers a new spin on the top down shooters through its unique theme. Unlike Geometry Wars, this game offers a tangible, relatable objective that is immediately recognizable and will typically crack a smile.
- Challenge - Originally intended to be a shooter, Ovarium quickly ran into issues with the draw calls. This led to redesigning the game play and many iterations were made. We then found ourselves with Iteration Procrastination. Basically every time we play tested the game, we found new ideas and mechanics we wanted to implement. This led us to putting off diving deeper in to one idea and fleshing it out properly, in order to try new ideas.
- Outcome - Eventually, a strict deadline was placed on when the final iteration of the game needed to be completed by so the team could move on. The game was finished, though with fewer levels than initially hoped for. The comedy of the game carried it to placing 3rd in the 2011 Game Wizards Game of the Year voting.
