- Synopsis - For teenage casual gamer players who want a game that is colorful both visually and in the story it tells. Imly is a puzzle/adventure game that has immersive story driven puzzles while being simple to understand and complex to master. Unlike Zelda, Okami, and Braid, our game has a simple ‘one tool at a time’ system that anyone and everyone can play
- Challenge - The game's narrative was very ambitious and difficult to fit into a casual game using the resources available. The team lacked a solid programmer so most of the nuts and bolts needed to be learned on the job. There was also an issue with getting the required number of assets in to create the game in the scope it was meant to play.
- Outcome - In the end, the game had to be shrunk down, and an ending had to be reworked to fit a much shorter game. It's always difficult to let go of parts of the game that make it the full experience you want, but at the end of the day, the game needs to be complete. The art style helped to make the game stand out and was an example of how presenting less, but at a high quality, is better than trying to do more, but sacrificing that quality.
